The Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management at LIBA conducted the first Dr. S. Xavier Britto Annual Endowment Lecture on the topic: Logic of Logistics in Building Technology Enabled Future, on 24th Mar. Dr. S. Xavier Britto Endowment Lecture has been instituted by Dr. Xavier Britto, Chairman of Kerry-Indev Logistics, who is a member of the Governing council of LIBA, in recognition of excellent service in the area of Logistics and Supply Chain Management. In the first of this lecture series, LIBA invited Mr. John Parkes, Managing Director-Integrated Logistics, Kerry Logistics Network, Hong Kong to deliver the Keynote Address. Rev. Dr. C. Joe Arun, SJ, Director LIBA, welcomed the dignitaries and spoke about the vertical of Logistics and Supply Chain Management at LIBA. The inaugural address was given by Dr. S. Xavier Britto, who spoke about the importance of Logistics for any Economy. Mr. John Parkes gave an overall view on future trends and innovations in supply chain and logistics explaining how the world and Supply Chain are now facing different challenges. He stressed on the importance of technology and how it is used in end-to-end supply chain and concluded with his perspectives on Indian economy, how factories are moving to India, and his predictions on Indian retail and consumption. As part of this endowment lecture, Dr. S. Xavier Britto has instituted an award called the Dr. Xavier Britto Excellence Award in appreciation of the best academic performance in Logistics and supply chain management studies. This award will be given every year to the best student of Post Graduate Program in Logistics, a program run by LIBA in collaboration with Kerry Indev. This year Ms.Sowmiya Alagappan Singaram, PGP 2021-22 batch, who scored first rank received the award. This flagship lecture event was attended by more than 700 guests consisting of top executives and managers from various industries including logistics, full-time and part-time students of LIBA, and faculty of LIBA.
