Mr. Santhosh Muruganantham,

Co-Founder and Managing Director of – Kolapasi

The Beyond Management Initiative Session organized in association with Business Standard on 20th February 2019 was happy to host Mr. Santosh Muruganantham (Co-Founder and MD  of Kolapasi) as the guest speaker. The entire motivational session circled on the theme “Stand Out or Stay Behind” which explains the numerous ways in differentiating yourself and staying ahead in business. The thoughts provoked us to know more about our personality and career path that paves the way to achieving goals. He began the session with humorous classification of modern students to engage the audience in an interactive manner.

He introduced the different aspects of entrepreneurship and emphasized that zeal and great ideas are the only ingredients in a recipe for business startup. He mentioned that the reason that people do not start their new ventures in a country like India is their inability to predict problems in society and satisfying them. It is due to non-awareness amongst the population of India that they decide to go for jobs in private or government sectors so as to minimize the risk. Therefore, he emphasized the importance to raise the basic awareness of entrepreneurial concepts and to enable students to identify and learn how to develop a mind-set to take up entrepreneurship as a challenging career.

Narrating his first entrepreneurial experience in his school days, he mentioned how his intension to generate money just to buy some samosas changed his mind set to pursue a challenging career in his life. He further states that a successful entrepreneur makes sure they either solve someone’s problem or make life easier for them. He advises every individual to invent their own strategies to overcome the common problems instead of adopting the known clear-cut strategies in their practices. Standing out as a purple cow in the modern era, requires creating unique value with your products that makes customer used to it. Also, devising policies and principles that promotes socially responsible practices attracts customer and investors to your business. He emphasized that Return on Emotion is always greater than Return on Investment.

He says “Why stand on the cliff when you can jump”, don’t wait for the best time for executing ideas. The best time to start a business is yesterday, you are already late by one day. He also inspired the students to value the presence of parents as well as gurus in their lives as it was they who helped him in building his reputation. The lecture motivated the students to work hard and start a new venture through adequate forward planning and the execution of the plans.
