“Excelling in Human Resources – Perspectives for Emerging Professionals”

The pros, myths and challenges in the HR industry were some of the major topics which were discussed in the BMI session on 14th November 2018. The students of LIBA got a good opportunity to interact with Mr. Ganesh Chella, Co-founder and Managing Director of Coaching Foundation India Ltd and Founder of Totus Consulting.

The session commenced with Mr. Chella giving a brief about the HR roles in today’s industry and how Emotional Quotient (EQ) is one of the biggest factors in today’s corporate world. He explained how not only the Chief HR Officers but every manager essentially should possess people skills in today’s world so as to succeed on a global level. Hence, he justified the fact that the difference between an ordinary leader and a great manager is the presence of impeccable people handling skills within him/her.The session was a very interactive one where students were asked about their various views on the HR sector and other current affairs concering the sector.

He mainly emphasised on the issue that the backbone of the HR sector is the people handling skills, and reassured the future HR professionals that barring the repetitive tasks, rest of the HR roles can never be replicated by the emergence of automation. He even mentioned that over the past few years the HR sector has undergone a major shift and is becoming more and more important, especially with the increase in the number of contractual jobs. An HR manager in the above scenario plays the critical role of convincing and motivating his employees. Mr. Chella concluded the session by giving a piece of advice to every student that, each one of them should start developing people management skills if they wish to have a successful career in the corporate world.
