On 10 November 2019, nineteen students of the Executive Diploma In Healthcare Management (First Batch) were taken for a visit to MGM HEALTHCARE, a 400 bedded multi-specialty hospital in Chennai. Dr. M.J.Xavier, Dr.Rajalakshmi RamPrakash and Ms.Sherlyn Lydia of LIBA accompanied them.
The objective of the visit was to expose the participants on the practical applications of Information Technology in healthcare services and general hospital administration processes within MGM. Dr. U.K.Ananthapadmanabhan, Advisory Board Member- MGM and Director- Tenxhealth Technologies gave a presentation, which covered several healthcare IT applications being implemented in the hospital. Mr.Swaminathan, IT Head of MGM also elaborated on Hospital Information Systems, IoMT, CRM, Porter Management, Emergency Services, etc. After the presentations, participants were taken around the hospital where they interacted with nurses and observed the IT applications in action.
The visit ended with a sumptuous lunch sponsored by MGM. As one participant posted in the WhatsApp group-“Of all these days, today’s learning was very valuable”, the learning objectives were more than just met.
